WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE PUSH CLIP AND THE MULTIFIT LATCH?
The Push Clip latch is our main commercial product and can be fitted to any type of 2 wheeled cart / wheelie bin. It requires a 1/2 inch hole to be drilled in a specific place on the lid to install it.
The Multi-fit latch will only fit 2 wheeled cart / wheelie bins with handles. It requires no tools to install and is aimed at consumers who wish to install themselves.
ARE THERE DIFFERENT STRENGTH LATCHES?
Yes - there are a range of latch strengths available. These range from lightweight releases for small bins and lightweight waste streams such as recyclables through to extra heavy duty latches that will stop animals such as raccoons and monkeys from getting into the contents.
CAN I INSTALL THESE MYSELF?
The Multi-fit latch is designed to be installed by anyone but your cart will need handles (pro tip - wet the latch with water before installing to make the process easier).
If your cart doesn’t have handles you can install the Push Clip latches yourself but they do require some precision and skill to get right. We recommend people are competent with a drill and following instructions!. You can find installation instructions for both latches on the product page.
WHAT SORT OF WASTE BINS IS THE LATCH SUITABLE FOR?
The SafeWaste lid latch will fit any size 2 wheeled cart or wheelie bin. Depending on where you are from there are many different terms for these bins - You may also know these bins as trash cans, rubbish bins, MGB’s, waste receptacles as well as 2 wheeled carts and wheelie bins.
The latches are suitable for any size from 20 gallons (80L) to 120 gallons (480 L).
WILL MY RUBBISH COLLECTOR OR COUNCIL ALLOW THE LATCHES ON OUR CARTS?
The SafeWaste latches are designed to automatically release when they are inverted into the collection truck. Cleaning up lost litter from curbside bins is a big inefficiency for collection crews so they should be very supportive. If your collector has concerns put us in touch and we are happy to show them the benefits not only for the consumer but for their business operation.
